CONTEMPORARY LOCUS 5 | TONY FIORENTINO, DOMUS LUCINAE | BERGAMO
From the 28th September 2013 the contemporary locus project continues – places rediscovered by contemporary art: in the fifth exhibition phase Tony Fiorentino, internationally active young artist, is contrasted with one of the most precious and well preserved places of the ancient city, an important Roman domus discovered and brought to light in Bergamo in the sixties thanks to the work of the architect Sandro Angelini (1915 – 2001).
The work of Tony Fiorentino for contemporary locus 5 is composed of alchemical processes of a poetic nature, sculptures that have been carved and assembled that remind us of tradition, works of light that restore sensitive visibility to the spaces of the domus romana, and video footage that follow the transformations of natural elements. Artifacts, objects, moving images and alchemy are exposed in the domus and in the spaces of the ancient Angelini house so as to represent an intensively strong path aimed at designing a process of embezzlement and interpretation of the structure, of its history and of its current identity.
The artist, having been allowed to freely interpret the Angelini house and its most profound domus Lucinae, has concretely developed the exhibition project by using the same concept as contemporary locus: unveiled places by contemporary art.
